Tiddliwinks the falling star

Long ago in a far away corner of the known universe there was a grouping of stars. At sunset

they'd gather and wave good night to the sun and at the same time they would wave good

morning to the moon.

The moon's name was Claire and the sun's name was Horatio and together they kept time in the

sky.

"Good friend, Horatio how was your day? Did Jeremy cloud get in the way of your rays of

light?"

Claire whispered quietly as she passed Horatioin the sky.

"Why no, he tried to but I asked him politely if he might let me shine on the people on the beach. We traded and tomorrow will be his day to cry on the beach goers. Do you have any plans for tonight?"

Horatio began to silently slip into the shadow of the coming day on the other side of the

earth.

"Why yes, it's falling star practice and I'm in charge. They will be starting right after

you leave."

Horatio slipped all theway into dawn and Claire into dusk and thus began the day and night.
It was not long until over to her left on the nearby horizon, Claire recognized the many members of the falling star eclub. They were waving frantically to get her attention.
'
"Claire, over here! We're ready for our falling lessons. Is it time to fall?" They weare all floating up and down and round and round.

"Settle down now, Weare waiting for one more clubmember. Where is Tiddlywinks? Dear sweet Tiddliwinks is missing!" Round and round they searched, including up and down but no Tiddliwinks.

"Can't we start without little Tiddliwinks? He's much too small for falling practice, can't
we begin without him, please? " Whined the biggest star whose name was Troy.

"I don't think it would be good manners to begin falling lessons without him. I think we should wait for just a few more minutes and then we will begin."

When Claire had finished, the small group of stars twinkled with happiness knowing they would soon be falling, tumbling, spiraling through the night all the way to the coming of the next sun.

"Well, it seems Little Tiddliwinks will not be joining us for falling class. Shall we begin, who wants to start?"

They had just started when ZOOM shot a comet with a tail as long as Father Time's beard shot across the night sky. It dazzled and delighted one and all. With many oooh's and aaahs the comet faded in the distance.

"That was beautiful!" Shouted Troy, "Do we get to learn to do that too?"

Claire shook her head, "No, that wasn't a star, that was Filbert the comet he is in the night

sky every once in awhile and he passes through every night. He doesn't stay long. Here he comes again! Watch, he is coming closer!"

The Falling Star Class floated silently as they watch Filbert's approach, but he wasn't alone!
There on his tail was no other than Tiddliwinks! He was waving with great enthuasism. He was proudly riding the speeding comet's tail.

Filbert came to a stop in front of the moon, "Here's your missing student. Good bye Tiddliwinks it was nice playing with you!" The comet shot off through the dark sky in no time flat leaving the stars far behind.
