FLAG DAY

We are Americans, we are proud.
We are generous, we are strong
We take care of others and ours
We heal the sick and right the wrong

We have banners, we have icons
We have slogans we have a flag
We know who we are; what we've done
We lay claim to our right to brag

Show our colors; raise our flag
June 14 is our day to boast
Tell the world, both good and bad
Spread the word; coast to coast

We pledge allegiance to this flag
In the morn by dawn's early light
And at the twilight's last gleaming
Broad stripes and stars so bright

Our flag stands for a republic
One nation, under the hand of God
The rockets glare and the bombs flare
As we stand and give peace the nod

We earn our keep and work a full day
We live in the land of the free and the brave
On Flag Day we commemorate our heritage
We pay homage to those of us now in the grave

Do not tarnish our name, or spit in our face
Don't challenge our spirit or step on our pride
You are going to wake a sleeping monster
We bite back; you'll feel it in your backside

We live with each other and work our differences out
Sometimes it's a headache; still we die for the right
To protect our families, stand up for the meek
We do what needs to be done; we stand up and fight

If you are looking for trouble, a tussle or a scrap
If what you really want is a throbbing bruise?
Then come on into our house, mess with the Americans
You'll never be the same, you are certain to lose

We have white and black, brown and yellow
We are a mixed breed at best
We come from all over and mix when we get here
We are not like you; we are different from the rest

We've been through some of the worst and the best
Every experience has tried us and made pure our soul
We work, play and fight next to one another
We start as individuals, but end as a whole

There is nothing new you can throw at us
Our flag is red with our blood
We have cried tears and spent sweat
So take your best shotBUD

Our Flag Day is just one opportunity
For us to proclaim our true colors
No matter who we are or where we are from

We are Americans, we are brothers!
