Poetry: Empty stage

by Marilyn Knowles Wilke

Created on: June 08, 2008

Empty stage sitting in front of me
awaiting my appearance so near
I imagine what it would be
if the audience was here

Empty stage frightens me
will I do my very best
to show my emotions clearly
and be above all the rest

Empty stage in silence
as I whisper lines I know
do I have a chance to win
will my talents show

Empty stage is a dream
as I arise to do what I do
I sigh so deeply as I sweep
the floors until I'm through
