If you are thinking about any type of construction, remodeling, adding on, or even building a new home, now is the best time to think about "Going Green". There are so many new products and ideas on the market designed around the concept of improving our environment. In fact, if you do your research, and you want to help our planet and people, the "Going Green" concept is one of the best ways.

We have learned over the past decades that recycling really makes a healthy contribution to our every day lives. It cleans up landfills, reuses products that could never be put to any other use, and it actually makes some products cheaper for the consumer to buy. There are many more reasons to recycle and many people are making the commitment to help clean up our planet in this way.

As time goes by, we are learning more and more about the effects of cutting down our rain forests, water shortages, hydro mining, and others, that are already affecting our lives in different ways. In the news every day, we hear of global warming, mudslides, droughts; numerous ways our earth and people are affected by reckless and excessive uses of our natural resources.

Reading through catalogs, magazines, TV commercials, sales papers, all kinds of advertising, attention is now being focused on affordable and available ways everyone can help. The "green" concept is not anything complicated. There are so many simple ways anyone can help.

Solar power is an excellent example. There are now litterly hundreds of products on the market made readily available for every one. In addition, they are not that expensive; anyone willing to check around can find different brands at reasonable prices. Just this one example could save so much money and valuable resources over just a few years.

Flooring made from bamboo is becoming a very popular product. A very fast growing natural wood, it makes a beautiful floor, and a stand of bamboo can replenish itself in no time. Recycled plastic, such as milk cartons, can be mixed with wood chips, which creates a weather resistant product used instead of natural wood. This product withstands weather better than natural wood and, at the same time, eliminates cutting our natural forests.

You can also check with your local recycling center in you town or county. There are very few items they do not accept. After talking with them, you will be surprised what they will not take. Taking most of your 'trash' to the recycling center can be your way of contributing to saving our natural resources.

If you are thinking about doing any construction type work, take just a little of your time and see how many ways you can incorporate "Going Green" into your plan. You will be helping yourself and everyone else while, at the same time, doing your part to save our precious resources. "Going Green" will follow us through generations to come.
