A father is a very influential figure in a child's life. To a daughter, this is the first male figure she has a chance to interract with, and one who would leave a lasting impression on her. Consequently, her relationship with her dad dictates the types of interractions she will have with the opposite sex later in life. To a son, " dad is who I want to be when I grow up." He admires, emulates, and internalizes his dad's teachings at a very early age. To mom, this is the person she chose to contribute to the biological make up, and hopefully the upbringing of her children.
Father's Day is that one, special day in each year, when sons, daughters and mothers can do something extraordinary for that special dad, in the family, who taught you to ride your first bike, throw your first ball, and upon whose knees you sat as he read you a good night story. Moms are especially sentimental about this day. "of all the people I,ve known I chose you, as the person my kids call dad." Male or female, when you are in the processs of selecting a gift for that special day, you are in essence looking for a gift which can adequately convey your sentiment to dad that " I am grateful for your influence in my life, and today I want to make sure that you know that I love, admire, and appreciate you." Therefore, a Father's Day gift should be personalized, practical, and unforgettable.
Buying dad a neck tie, or socks, when he has oodles of them, can be nothing short of "bringing coal to New Castle.". He already has more than he needs. Buying him a car, when he already has two, conveys a similar message, that "I did not take the time to choose a gift that was meaningful, and one that would appropriately show you, dad, that you are loved, that your hard work is both acknowledged, and appreciated." However, if dad lives up north, and is forced to brave many cold, windy, or even snowy mornings to wait for a bus as he goes off to work, a car, as a gift, would represent the height of thoughtfulness. Similarly, buying dad a replacement jacket for the one he loves so much, and wears it even though it is tattered and torn, is also something that will be both remembered, and appreciated by dad for many years to come.
Extravant spending is no guarrantee that you presented dad with the best Father's Day gift. In fact, there are many wonderful Father's day gifts you can give without even opening your wallet. It is very important to personalize your Father's Day gifts to the specific taste and needs of
