The concept of life after death has perplexed humans since the beginning of time. Each individual has to accept the religious teachings of their time or deeply contemplate the meaning/purpose of life and the certainty of their own death.
I have struggled with this dilemma as others have. The formal religious teachings I received as a child and young adult left me frustrated and pondering, with unanswered questions. I sought out the Bible and attempted to find revelation through prayer, meditation and reading. Still the answers I sought did not come to me, although I sometimes felt a sense of peace.
As dear loved ones passed on, the possibility of life after death became a quest for me. Where were my friends and family members? What is next, after this life?
During this searching phase, a friend loaned me a book called, "A Practical Guide to Past Life Regression". It was interesting reading, albeit a little far-fetched for me; I had considered the possibility of reincarnation. At this point of my life, I was very open to the possibilities of life after death in spectrums other than the popular and/or accepted religious teachings.
One evening, my roommate and I went through the exercises in the book to get into a meditative state. It was a very simple process. Although I fully expected no results, I found myself regressed first as a Native American woman and then as an aristocratic woman during Roman or Grecian times. In both of these regressions I was able to see my hands (which were not my present day hands), the clothing, food, and housing of the times as well as names of friends and family members. The "visions" were very clear and I had knowledge of events and places of which I am not familiar in this lifetime.
This occurred 20 years ago, and I have participated in many regressions since then. I have to say, it is the most fascinating "experiment" I have ever participated in. I cannot with certainty say whether there is a mass consciousness from which we draw knowledge, or if the knowledge comes from our own past lives. However, I have been able to verify events in history that I learned of during these regressions.
These experiences have given me great peace and comfort that there is a hereafter. This lifetime is not the beginning, and this is not the end. And I have joy knowing that there is a good possibility that I will be reunited with loved ones.
