Great Father's Day sayings are the sayings that ring true to the heart and stand the test of time. They continue to stir emotions of what our father has meant, sacrificed and worked so hard for us to have what we have; our educations, our morals and our personalities. Sure, there are a lot of bad apples that fell from the father's tree, but in general, a father is a doting, caring and role-model inducing figurehead of the family dynamic, always there to console, protect and encourage his children to be the best person that they possibly can be. Great fathers instil in their children the desire and mental tools to grow up and be great fathers themselves. We honor our fathers by being good, honest and caring individuals, providing for and doting over their grandchildren. On Father's Day, the father is recognised by deeds, poems, sayings, songs, cards, gifts and reciprocated love.
Some of the best Fathers Day sayings come from famous people, because, well let's face it, before the Internet came along, these sayings, poems and songs were simply passed down through the generations. Today, in the electronic and computer age, we have the ability to send messages of love and thankfulness to our fathers instantly, via email or e-cards and text messaging, as well as through the post office. Father's Day has only been recognised and celebrated for less than a hundred years, but people have written, or said, many thoughtful and emotional sentiments about what it means to be, and to have, a father.

Any deviations from that code brought not physical punishment, but shame; shame that we let him down, that we were part of his career, we defined what type of man, what kind of father he was, and if we brought shame on ourselves, then that shame was felt and directed him as well as the entire family. This method of rearing children, at the time seeming barbaric, now seems to be one of the best options that I personally have seen, as I have seen many fathers hit their children, call them names, ridicule and chastise them. We do not know how lucky we were to have such great fathers until we are either fathers ourselves, or our fathers are dead and buried. So, let's have a peek at what some famous people had to say in regards to their fathers, and the impact of their
