scruffy hitchhiker
free as a bird
high
on life, on herb
work boots just like mine
that could be me
hitchhiking my way through life,
following random roads
to a different destination
changing
with each new sunrise
never knowing where I'll be
tomorrow
not caring
having plenty of time
for me to think
problems
questions on life
aggravation, arguments
nothing matters
thumb out
pointed skyward
tires screech
and even if no one stops
to help me I'll be
unmoved
by wind
by rain
by pain
unhindered
unattached
free
free
how sweet freedom would be!
maybe hungry, tired, a little dirty,
dirt poor,
but at least happy
hitchhiking my way
through life

To your feelings
Don't flood it
Don't burst it
If it does
Not work for us
Just say to it
I shake your hands
