A Dream of the Apocalypse
infinite universes
stretched in welcome
for the new birth,
indifferent about
the character of the
oldest mother's
newest child.
we have all contributed
some small part
to this novelty:
flotsam and jetsam-
and then some-
dance the oldest dance.
and the mother draws a breath-
and we all hold ours-
and universes sparkle-
wordlessly, endlessly.
the world waits patiently
for the offspring
of anxious humanity's paternity.
