Anything prefaced with the word "universal" is usually impractical and pragmatic. Although the word seems to warm your cockles, you can be assured that it certainly can be connected to some covert socialist agenda. The idea of big government miraculously healing our woe's with health care leaves me asking for an example of the last time our politicians solved anything without taxing us to death. Tax enthusiast (democrats) love nothing more than to prey on our fear of inadequate health care, the goal is for government to control every facet of our existence with the idea they can do a better job. When the government becomes our surrogate parents, they establish a firm and long career with job security.

Universal health care does not insure care at all, just look at Britain. Their people are waiting exhaustively for routine operations that are in most cases canceled due to the length of time or death. Critical operations in places like Sweden can take over 20 weeks to procure and when they do, they are second rate. The fact that everyone receives health care does not mean it is free and most certainly doesn't mean it is provided. Although, while your waiting in line for admission, you can revel in the knowledge that your 60 hour work week is paying for the guy in front of you. How will you feel after being covered by your employer with adequate health care and now having to wait for your prescriptions due to supply and demand. It happens in Europe and Canada routinely, that is why you will find some foreigners coming to the U.S. of A for treatment.

We will be reduced to low budget health care because most of the extensive time consuming research will be unfordable. It will be like that inexpensive imitation cologne, it says on the bottle "smells like the real thing" but anyone without a cold is repelled by you and the dog leaves the room shaking its head. I for one would be deeply concerned when I am scheduled for surgery and they sell the rights to a cable reality show then assure me the inturn is just as good as the doctor. "operates like the real thing" It is a wonderful dream to believe that people go to medical school to save the world, I tend to think money was the factor. When physicians all receive the same pay grade perfection seems like an antiquated passion. With universal health care, can we assume that a broken bone will receive priority over a common cold?

It has been proved, at the expense of humanity, that universal (communist) heath care, does not work What the government does not show you is the testimony from those who suffer in a country that subscribes to this virtue. The interest in health care for all, needs to be at the for front because everyone needs medical attention. It's an atrocity when we look at what is exhorted from the elderly for their prescriptions, but universal care is not the solution. Look, I would love a machine that endlessly makes Sour Patch Kids without cost or service, just a touch of the button, but I can't.
