You're a retired baby boomer. You've reached that wonderful time in life when you can relax and fill your days with whatever makes you happy. You've earned it! Not having to always go to work is definitely a welcome blessing, but, sometimes, you miss it. You've probably thought about volunteering, but you have no idea where to start looking. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) can help you find the volunteer position that meets your needs.
Serving the greater Sacramento community, RSVP allows volunteers to once again feel the excitement, joy and fulfillment of helping others. RSVP is a non-profit organization that recruits volunteers, over 55 years old, and matches them with an exciting variety of available opportunities. RSVP also taps into a wealth of insight, guidance and wisdom from the National Senior Service Corporation, an outstanding, dedicated and nationwide public service mentor program. The dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic combination of all of these resources creates a win-win scenario for everyone involved.
RSVP encourages a working environment where volunteers can use their skills in the right job, and, most of all, feel appreciated. The wide diversity of community service opportunities is growing every day; the popularity of RSVP is on the rise, with a corresponding increase in requests for assistance from public and nonprofit organizations. As a result, RSVP is looking for a variety of talent from all backgrounds. Maybe you could be a tutor, a chess player, a horse tender, a gardener, a computer expert, a cook, a history docent, a health care attendant or a clerical assistant. It's exciting to know that there's a great demand for your valuable services. And the venues are also varied: nature centers, schools, libraries, senior centers, television/ radio stations, sheriff offices, hospitals, food distributors, shelters or museums.
It's always a good feeling to give back to your community. Naturally, you'd be much happier if your unique knowledge, skills and abilities could be fully utilized for a greater purpose. Let RSVP help you put your lifetime of experience to good use. For more details, you can visit the RSVP website at www.rsvpsacramento.org or call them directly call at (916) 875-3631.
