NO PROPER GOODBYE

Burnt in autumn's glow,
the last page of your book,
the bit where you say, goodbye,
and turn, for one last look.

I wish, that I had known,
as we passed in the hall,
that this was it, forever,
and no more would you be home.

Why didn't you say, my son,
that demons, mined your head,
and the pain, that they inflicted,
was driving you, to the edge.

I said goodbye, as normal,
just like I always do,
and you replied, as normal,
so what else could I do?

You were on a train that day,
and it was running away,
yet silent was it's passage,
and I missed it's frantic sway.

And when the bell rang,
that evil fateful night,
I thought that you were home,
if only I was right.

The police, they came as two,
and instinctively, then I knew,
from when, I last saw you,
the world had turn, deep blue.

And now we have a patch,
of earth that's six by two,
and every time, I go that place,
my heart, it aches for you.

I have so many questions,
and I go there twice a week,
but the earth, that surrounds you,
hides the answers, that I seek.
