Poetry: Control

by Manu L

Created on: June 06, 2008

She enters the room

No one
No eyes on her for now
She walks around
Has a look in the mirror

Pleasure in moving
A few more steps
A few more

They start coming in
She leaves to undress
Boisterous artists
There to impress

She hears them
But not really
Focusing on what's coming already

Like an athlete she breathes in
And out
In and out

Blanks out the worries or distractions
That could lead her to sudden actions

No more voices heard
Pencils being sharpened
First stroke of the brush
On the sheer canvas

She comes in
Sheds her robe
Sits in front of all of them
Naked

She breathes in
And out
Not too hard
Not to move

First pose is sitting
Arms on lap

Stillness

There is no perception
That she is breathing

Brushes on the canvas
Pencils sketching
Back and forth
In and out

The line for a neck
A shoulder
A hip
An eye
A toe
A leg
A head

There is no perception
That she is breathing

Because she is
In total control.
