Father's Day only comes once a year, so when you are thinking about a quote or saying to put in his card, scrapbook or the tag on his present make sure that it comes from the heart and is personal to you and your Dad. You may have a favourite book with a few sentences or a paragraph that inspire you. Most quotes and sayings are taken from novels and famous people, for example; "There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself." was written by John Gregory Brown in 'Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery'. The following are all sayings or quotes that I have come across recently and feel are enriched with love.

My favourite saying is one I read in a card once: "Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy". I have never felt this is more true than when my husband and I became parents. Neither of us have had a good relationship with our own fathers; one having disappeared nearly thirteen years ago and the other being an alcoholic, so we have never actually thought about anything nice to say about fathers before. It is only now, when my daughter looks into her Daddy's eyes and smiles that I realise how special fathers can be.
