How to live green by example

Living green is living with a constant consciousness about the environment. One must not only recycle, reduce greenhouse emissions, and conserve energy, but one must help erase their own human footprints as well as the footprints of those who do not live green. A teacher teaches by example and a person living green can provide a teaching experience to those who are ignorant of green living and the plight of our planet. Every word we speak and every thing we do is an example presented to our fellow man in our road to restore earth to its former biological and ecological existence. Remember though that when you speak, teach do not preach.

One example of living green is just in the mode of transportation people see you use everyday. With the recent gasoline crunch, more alternative vehicles such as Segway Personal Transporters, bicycles, and even a pair of roller skates are appearing in the towns of America and across the globe. Just the sight of a person using alternative transportation by a brown living person will give them insights and inspiration while they watch the green living example roll by as they are pouring gas and their money into the tank.

Simple acts such as taking cloth or canvas bags to the grocery store can provide a shining example to the non-green living person. You know the person who witnessed a green living person walk across the grocery parking lot with their canvas bags stops and thinks when they are unloading their groceries and putting the plastic bags in the garbage which ironically is in another plastic bag. Just by using a canvas bag at the grocery store you have set the scene for more and more to follow your example.

If you are green living you are thinking green all the time. Each green act that you perform is witnessed by your neighbors, strangers, and people just passing by. You are green example is a seed that is planted subconsciously into the minds of people. As they watch the evening news and see that environmental report each evening they might remember you and emulate you. The simple act of taking alternative transportation, using canvas bags, and turning out the light when you leave the room can remind the brown people of the world of the person they saw living green and it might inspire them to do so also.
