Saying thank you to your husband for co-creating your children with you and for being such a wonderful father is an important part of Father's Day. Letting him know how much you appreciate him for being him and not just for what he does should be a tradition that is repeated every June when Father's Day rolls around again. There are many ways to express your love, appreciation and admiration for the man who means so much to you. Special gifts are one way of doing this.
Home-made coupons are a huge hit in our household. I make little booklets of "coupons" for all my husband's favorite activities. I also include those activities he doesn't like. Coupons I have given him in the past include breakfast in bed, a day of rest, and his favorite meal. I have even given him coupons for "stress-free NASCAR racing" and "Super Bowl Party of his Dreams." When he redeemed his racing coupon, our daughter and I went to the park and let him enjoy the race without my endless questions and her "Daddy, let's watch Wonder Pets now." His super bowl party included a guest list of ten friends, the menu of his choice; I even rented a giant screen television (with all the extra gadgets he likes) for him and his friends to watch the game. As for those things he doesn't like, I included a "I Do the Yard Work this Week-End" coupon and "No Sandwich Nights for a Month" coupon. These coupons can be personalized for your husband's specific tastes. You can make them as personal as you like, creating one covered in hearts and lightly sprayed with perfume. Don't add an expiration date to these coupons - show him you love him without limitations.
One year, I updated our cable television package. I added all the sports and movie channels; all the channels I thought would take away from our family time. It did just the opposite. I am now a NASCAR fan and our daughter understands all sorts of fancy football plays. We spend time watching television together instead of him complaining he was missing something he had wanted to watch. Again, this gift can be personalized for the history buff or the do-yourself father, depending on his specific likes and what your cable/satellite company can provide.
Another gift he enjoyed was scrapbook/video combo I made him. I arranged all of his favorite photos into a scrapbook, adding more masculine stickers and artwork. I included all those special "dandyisms" he uses with our daughter and with me like "Listen and think" and "Don't monkey on the furniture" and "Pot
