Father's Day is best spent together, as a family, honoring that special man who does so much all year long. Even though it is Dad's special day, he will best enjoy it with all those who loves him the most and who he loves the most. Such a fuss a made over Mother's Day, making it special for her, dads tend to be left out when their day rolls around every June. Whatever you decide on doing for Father's Day, make sure it is centered around dad with activities the whole family (especially the children) will love. There are ways to make this day a special, fun-filled family holiday everyone will love.
Start you dad's day off right with his favorite breakfast. Actually, make it a brunch by letting him sleep later than usual. Whatever it may be, home-cooked and served in bed or at that restaurant that cooks his eggs "just right," make sure it is what he wants. Don't forget to save the dishes for later if you ate at home; this day is all about dads and should be spent with him.
If dad is a fan of drowning worms, also known as fishing, Father's Day is a great day to do this. Children love being outdoors. Even if this is their first fishing trip and it turns out fishing isn't for them, you have already decided on a place with other activities. Make sure there is a park with swings, slides and the like. Trails for walking and bird watching can also be fun for the entire family. This might even give Dad a chance to show of his Boy Scout abilities by pointing out plants, trees and different types of birds.
A day at the zoo is a great idea for a family outing. Let Dad choose which animal exhibits to see first. Be sure someone other than Dad carries all the bags and pushes the stroller (if there is one) as the family enjoys all the sights the zoo has to offer. Stand in line at the snack bar with all the kids as Dad saves a table in the shade. Even though the family is out and about, try to do all you can to cater to Dad. Buy a special souvenir just for Dad. Maybe take one of those silly pictures where everyone sticks their head in a hole above a monkey's body. If at all possible, try to buy something that the date can be included on it. He will want to remember the exact date of all the fun everyone is having.
Spending the day at an art exhibit or museum is an option for some family fun on Father's Day, but only if Dad is interested in such activities. Be sure an give him the opportunity to share his knowledge of the artwork or items on display. The children will love learning
