Inspirational Flag Day poems

by Marilyn Knowles Wilke

Created on: June 06, 2008

Flag day should be honored
Tribute to the Red, White and Blue
With everyone flying our banner
To honor the Brave and the True

In this time of war and terrorist
Our Flag should be uplifted everyday
To remind us of how important
Our freedom and the American Way

So many go out and burn it
And destroy what Old Glory is about
Instead of celebrating our freedom
They curse, riot and shout

Some forget all those who have died
For the freedom of our Flag to fly
They let this important day pass
And forget all those who had to die

Our flag is something to be proud of
So many have suffered to give it a name
Which could otherwise be buried
And our freedom would do the same

We need to pray for another freedom
Of those who have a flag that fell
And be proud we live under Old Glory
And be sad for those living in Hell

Our Flag represents the freedom
We have to walk down the street
Without dodging bombs and gunshot
Able to smell the flowers so sweet

OLD GLORY should never be trampled
Or allowed to touch the ground
For it should always fly high above us
One nation under God as it was found

The Pledge should never change
Just as our Red, White and Blue
for our Flag was sewn with prayer
and God's word was acclaimed to be true

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the USA, is how it starts,
and our Flag and pledge should remain
upon each and every American's hearts

Through all these troubled times,
We should all give thanks to God above
That we fly the Flag of Freedom
And remain the Country of Love

Never forget our soldiers
All those who fought and died
Honor each and every family
And all the tears they've cried

Think about the countries
Who live in fear and total destruction
Yet here in our great country
There is always new construction

Be thankful we can fly our Flag
Think of all who suffer and die
Those who cannot walk the streets
And the ones who cannot try

Oh say can you see
Just open your eyes my friend
For if Old Glory ever falls
Then our Freedom will surely end

Remember Flag Day with pride
And share in the celebration
For this day is not just for History
But, for everyday in our nation

In past wars men stood proud
As today our soldiers still do
And the pride of our nation
Should also be shared by you

Flag Day reminds us all
Of how blessed we all should feel
to share the freedom we have
And join in prayer for God to heal

So be Proud and Brave and True
Remember to lift OLD GLORY high
Be glad you are an American
On Flag Day let the Red, White and Blue fly

For the Flag represents that freedom
And flies high to tell the story
Of all those who have fought for us
Thank God we have OLD GLORY
