No way dodge ball should not be banned, I go to school in Australia and we play dodge-ball everyday. It is the best game in the world. It gives people a chance to run around and keeps you fit. Everyone in our class loves it (even the girls) and if we're not playing dodge-ball we get really upset.
I can't believe that people want to ban dodge-ball in their schools. Have they gone soft or something? Why don't they ban basketball because someone could fall over and hurt themselves? I believe they should just toughen up.
I don't think we should ban this game- it is the greatest game in the world. There has been the occasional accident but besides that if you play to the rules you're not going to get hurt. Like all sports you can get hurt but the chance of that are quite slim. It also depends on what ball you're using. If you're using shot puts for dodge ball then of course you would ban it. But injuries are a part of growing up. If the same people that ban dodge ball were the parents of soccer players we wouldn't have a league.
Parents don't like this sport because they are trying too hard to make perfect children -taking them to piano lessons, then shuttling them off to soccer practice, and then golf and tennis, and then to poor, misguided tutors who attempt to teach them algebra in germen.
There was a lawsuit against a school involving dodge ball in 2001 Heather Lindaman, who was 7, broke her elbow after becoming tangled with another student during a dodge ball game.
The lawsuit says that this game should not have been allowed. The lawyer says "one arm might grow longer than the other because of damage to a growth plate". He also says "she had to have surgery because of her injury".
Parents recon that the stronger children pick on the week in this game, if that's happening. The P.E teacher should attend to it.
It was also reported that dodge ball lowers self esteem. Let me tell you I've played dodgeball most of my life and I've never hurt my self-esteem when I got hit badly or my team got pummeled.
Where do people stop in Colarado Springs an elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were being chased.
I believe that dodge ball should not be banned. If any thing at school children should get to choose weather they participate because I don't reckon that kids who love playing dodge ball should miss out.
