Why the best Father's Day gifts aren't the most expensive

something similar. The fact that it was a guitarist made it all the more perfect for him, and he absolutely loved it.

If you put some thought (and maybe just a bit of research) into your dad's favourite pastime, you're sure to come up with a gift that he will enjoy for many years. Buying that brand new super duper expensive fishing rod for your keen fisherman dad may not be such a great idea if he's perfectly happy with the one he has. His current rod could well be a good luck charm that he would never go fishing without, and your gift will end up being packed away in a cupboard somewhere, wasted. Dad's fishing buddies are sure to know what he wants or needs in that department. Maybe a new set of lures, guaranteed to attract the sort of fish he would love to catch, or a book depicting the best fishing spots in your state, would be more suitable, and a fraction of the cost of that new rod.

You want your dad to know how much he means to you, and the gift that will convey that message the best is the one that has your heart and thoughts behind it, not your wallet. You might even make your dad a little uncomfortable if he knows that you have spent a large sum of money on his gift. He cares about you too, and doesn't want to see you struggling for cash just to please him.

It doesn't take too much effort to find the gift that will be just right for your dad, and the extra time involved will be well worth it when dad opens up his gift on Father's Day and his face lights up in the knowledge that you really did put some thought into it.
