I would like to start out by badly paraphrasing the Bard: "me thinks that Obama supporters protest too much". The comments by President Bush before the Kenneset was not aimed toward any individual. He was just drawing attention to a growing trend in foriegn policy.
There are those all over the world, including many in this country, who believe that we can sit down with our "Hitlers", as Chamberlian sat down with his. It was a doomed concept then and it will always be that way.
In nineteen-thiry nine, words like "peace is at hand" meant nothing to Adolf Hitler. As the German army rolled through Europe, leaving death in it's wake, little was thought of the policy that allowed it all to happen.
The peace treaty that was negotiated by Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and Hitler, forced Briton to stand on the sidelines and watch the continent burn.
It was only a matter of time before England herself felt the wrath of the blitz. Sir Winston Chruchhill knew evil and the only way to deal with it. His policy of "never surrender" saved Europe.
The country the president was talking about was Iran.Their leader denies the holocaust, and constantly wishes for the destruction of Isreal. The Iranian foreign policy is one of chaos inflicted all over the middle-east two thirds of which harm Isreal directly: from Hamas in the Palistinian Territory, Hezzbollah in Lebanon, and the worst of all is providing weapons that are killing our troops in Iraq. The idea of one to one talks with this madman is insane whether they be from the United States, European Union, or the United Nations.
Those foolish ideals blossom here in America and the majority of that group happen to be liberal, who have a habit of voting Democrat. What I want to know is, how can the democrats claim they support Isreal and yet wants to sit and negotiate with its executioner.
If our one true ally in that region were to fall, Iran would be unstopable in dominating the whole area. The love fest does not end there, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and my personal favorite Hugo Chavez that little south of the border knock off Mussolini would bo on the list for a meeting.
Any direct contact with the above would be a public relations coup used against us like a club. All we have to do in reguards to them is stand firm and entropy will do the rest.
The proper policy is one of "peace through strength" and that's economic, trade and military. The ability to recognize evil and a spine is what I am looking for in a leader.
