The phone
slid across my lap
as it vibrated,
the shimmying, shaking
dance of the industrial revolution
set to the sound
of three (3)
great bursts
of a church bell
across the countryside
ringing once for hope
once for health
and once for god.
There was a girl
crying on the other
end, her mouth made of
zeros and ones
as she spoke
of death
and wielded a sword through
the open house
and towards
the receiver.
I dropped my paper coffee cup
and told her
life was not fair,
it never was
and never would care
to be.
The cliche escaped my
lips with all the ease
of truth slipping
out of her dress on
a midnight dock somewhere,
as the boats played tag
with each other.
With my hands
in my pockets
I walked outside
into the lazy wind,
who didn't even blink
at the news of Stephanie's passing,
but I think it knew
all about her brand new coffin
and the blue dress
they buried her in.

Poetry: Death of a loved one
by Judi B
Heaven Has My Hero Now
Heaven has my hero now,
My life with you is gone.
It's changed in oh, so many ways
But yet continues
"Never"
(In Loving Memory
For my Tattooed Queen)
Taken away before your time,
The debt paid before the crime,
Left but never
The Long Wait
The leaves fell down
Upon the autumn grass;
Frailty in every shade of red...
I sat by the window for a closer
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you
Neither sunrise nor sunset that I don't hear your voice
Or miss your laugh
And
Lights shine off in the distance
Nothing but blackness appears
There is resistance
Death whispers in my ear
He talks of a life
