Children love to make crafts. They like to color, cut and make things for those they love. Most children don't want to do something that is difficult. They like simplicity! They want to do something that they know they can do. If the project is too hard for them to complete chances are they will shy away from it or become discouraged. No one wants a child to not have fun making crafts. <?xml:namespace prefix = o /> The best and probably the most favorite Valentine's Day craft for school age children is the homemade card. They can add their own special touches to the card by adding sparkles, lace, pictures and stickers. Depending on who they are making it the children can become very creative to impress the person they are making it for. Chances are if a child really has a special friend they will want to make it as special and pretty as they can. My six year old loves to draw as most children her age do. She cuts things out of construction paper and glues them on to a folded piece of paper that is going to be a card. A few cut out hearts here and there add some glitter and presto a home made Valentine's Day card for the special people in her life. She adds he name to the inside so you'll always remember who gave it to you. One of the best gifts a parent can get from her child is a card made with love by her child. Paper roses are also a nice craft for children. In kindergarten last year my daughter make a bouquet of home made flowers for me. I was amazed at her creativity. To tell the truth I loved them more then the real flowers my husband bought for me. I just never will tell him that. Some things are better kept a secret and that way his feelings won't get hurt, plus I enjoy getting flowers from time to time. This past year my daughter made me a flower vase out of an old pickle jar. She painted the jar at school. It was beautiful! It was a clear jar with flowers and hearts painted all over. She brought the jar home to me with some flowers her father bought me for Valentines Day. I think the best Valentines Day gifts are those that come from the heart. I am not a high maintenance person and probably never will be. I am a person who believes the best things in life are the simple things. I only hope my children grow up to believe the same. I want them to cherish the best things in life and enjoy their gifts that their children will one day make for them.
