Auto racing is an American pass time that many people are not going to let go down without a fight. If it is a pollution problem that would worry you then just think about how much toxins are put into the air by street cars and then compare that to all the race cars, there's millions of street cars driving at one time and only a microscopic fraction of that are race cars driving. So who do you think is putting more toxins into the air? I would say that street cars would be more to blame for air pollution. I don't see why auto racing should be banned. I think that there is more pollutants put into the air by cigarette smoking then race cars, because there only so many race cars that are being driven at one time and millions more are streets cars at one time. It's like comparing a hammer with a wrecking ball, which one do you think is going to cause more damage. How can anyone in their right mind try and ban something like auto racing? That's like banning base ball or the fourth of July celebration. That would be ending one of America's favorite pass times and there's no way people will go for it. A better solution for reducing toxins being put into our air would be for people to keep working on alternative means of fuel that is non pollutant and try to slowly move into making it practical so that all the companies that's business relies on traditional means of fuels have time to prepare. I understand that there's a fuel crisis and I don't think that NASCAR is contributing all that much to it. We the daily drivers are more to blame and probably put more miles on our cars in in one year then NASCAR does in half that time. There's a lot of news about NASCAR being worried about all pressure it is getting from all the criticism. If think about though, NASCAR vehicles do not pollute the air nearly as much as a common street cars, because even though the NASCAR resembles some of the street cars it has a completely different engine set up, the street car would usually have a four valve per cylinder arrangement and the NASCAR has only a two valve per cylinder arrangement and another difference between the two is that the street version of the car is usually running duel cams and the NASCAR is only running a single cam. Instead of trying to ban an all American pass time; we should try to get the racing leagues to run their race cars on alternative fuels and maybe set an example for street cars and for get about this nonsense about trying to ban auto racing.
