Fathers Day Scrapbook Ideas
Since I love to scrapbook ,Fathers Day is always a challenge, but is rewarding when finished. I have found that most Dad's enjoy things on a smaller scale. When putting together your ideas, take into consideration all the things going on in your special Dad's life. Is he into sports,or does he ride motorcycles or four wheelers? What is his favorite team,or college? Also consider where he works,in an office or outside, maybe truck driving,or teacher, doctor.
Once you have determined a few special things about Dad,it is time to put together your scrapbook. Lets say that Dad is in an office all day. Use pages that highlights his personality. Using a rolodex for the desktop, you can decorate each individual card then use pictures to finish it off. This way, Dad can sit at his desk and casually thumb through his pictures without taking to much desk space.
For the Dad that works outside,I have used pocket size albums. These can be found at most craft stores. Again use pages and pictures that shows the outdoor side of him. My husband is a bow hunter. So I use outdoor pages such as grass or wood, anything that looks like nature. You can also use earth tone pages and add your embellishments to dress it up. Since he likes to hunt,I use sandpaper to look like dirt or sand. I have used turkey feathers for embellishments.
If your Dad is in a nursing home or is house bound, you can frame your pages to hang on his walls. In this instance,I like to take pictures of his family and do pages that depict their life. If you are working on young grandchildren, use a page that they have painted themselves with finger paints. Then use a picture of something they are doing at this time in their life to frame. You can just frame it or matt and frame. It would depend entirely on the background page. If your youngster paints a page add their hand print or foot print for grandpa to look at. The sky is the limit on this one. Grandpa's,love anything that is hand made with love from his family.
Scrapbooking is all about your character. Some people love to add and add to their pages, when others stay simple and orderly. Lay out your pictures and get them into some type of order before you do anything else. Decide on your Dad's personality, likes and dislikes. Then you start from there. Add their favorite things, which is usually their children, doing what comes naturally to them. Keep your pictures simple. I love those pictures taken when no one knows they are being photographed. Take advantage of the outdoor scenes around you. Nature is a beautiful background. What ever you decide to do for Dad,rest assured,he will love it.
Any craft store, discount store and of course the scrapbook stores, carry a plethera of scrapbook items. They will have packages of pages preprinted for the amatuer scrapbooker.I like to use these just to catch up or to do a fast and easy album. There are packages for every occasion and holiday.Let your imagination go wild when planning your album. If your Dad has medals from school or the service, use them somewhere in his album. For the fisherman, use fishing lures for embelshments. For the carpenter in your family, use nails, twine, tacks, any building item that you could work into your page.As I said before,it is all up to you and your taste.Just have fun and remember if it is made from the heart,it will capture the heart. Happy Scraping!
