from small blocks and big blocks in cars to 17 ton diesel main propulsion drive units for warships and 30 odd Harley's. It has been my experience that auto mobile designers build cars by a power to weight ratio. Under power will kill fuel mileage. Over power to under weight is nothing less than a psychotic ride in the making. There is a fine line that manufacturers build cars by. I have heard rumors for years of carburetors that get fifty to two hundred and fifty miles to the gallon. And i have heard the rumors of people that wouldn't sell their ideas being killed by the oil companies. To me that doesn't sound all that strange. The oil industry is a billion dollar a day industry in the United States alone. With the escalating prices it will be in the billions per day. To them that is a good reason to keep mileage down. In the end the miles per gallon can be affected equally as much by your driving habits as they are by inefficient engine performance. Rapid excelleration, excessive speed, poor tire inflation, and over loading a vehicle will all affect MPG. So; careful maintanance and comprehensive driving habits are about the best anyone can hope for. And since the electrochemical methods show the most promising results I am sure that they will become more readily available and more effective in the future. Until then good luck and happy motoring.
