A baby boomer's guide to volunteering in Sacramento, California

If you are new to the Sacramento area, you may not be familiar with a great organization simply known as RSVP.The RSVP is short stands for Retired Senior Volunteer program and is part of The Corporation For National And Community Service. In Sacramento County alone there are over six-hundred seniors who actively participate in this program.

Unlike filling out resumes and going for interviews. The only eligibility requirements ,are a willingness to share your life experiences. There are so many great activities that you can choose ,from tutoring children and adults ,to visiting the isolated elderly. The list is endless,as Sacramento County has one-hundred and sixty agencies that are enrolled with RSVP.

A bimonthly newsletter will keep you up to date with all the newest volunteer opportunities so you never feel out of the loop, and just the fact that you are a RSVP volunteer will give you an opportunity to attend an annual Recognition Event.

For those of you that need a bit more persuasion. All RSVP volunteers are covered by supplemental accident, personal, and automobile liability insurance. Not only are you covered while volunteering, but also while traveling to and from.

If you would like to contact RSVP feel free to call 916-875-3631,or visit www.friendsofrsvp.org
