I have always been a traditional person who believes in meeting someone in person rather long distance or via the Internet. However, I tried e-Harmony for over a year and all I got was numerous matches, tons of closed matches and some that did not respond to communication. Sure the long intense and grueling of filling out your application would surely mean that someone could find a good match based on your morals, beliefs and personality.
You really have no idea how many other guys a women is being matched with or even having open communication while talking to you. I can only imagine since I got 6 matches in the same minute sent to me from e-Harmony, I am sure these other women are having an avalanche of the same. While you can read in a good amount of detail about a person what they like, what the five important things they can not live with out and who is their hero in life, some refuse to display a pic of themselves and what you to ask them for it or they will show it at a later stage of communication. Really? You're kidding. In what dating world do you not see what the person looks like?
There has to be an attraction regardless of how shallow it seems, then after you are attracted to the person, you can get to know them and see if you want to spend the rest of your life with them. I might be the exception to the rule or the one guy that is difficult to match someone with, but this appears to me to be nothing but a money soaker from people that are looking for their soul mate. Besides their website and the commercials I see on TV, I have not heard of any success stories about e-Harmony. From my personal experience, the site doesn't work and is a misleading network of money hungry individuals preying on the technology of the Internet to teach people to meet in this new cyber world.
Why go through that whole process when you can just talk to someone in person and know real quick whether they are a good match for you. But as long as people believe the commercials and the hype on their website, single people will be flocking to their computers in hopes of meeting mr or mrs right. I guess the days are gone when two people meet through friends or by relatives or co-workers. So if you truly want to meet that right person, get out of your chair and make an effort to talk to the people you already know and before you know it, you will meet the certain someone you have been waiting your whole life to meet.
