Is true love really blind?

The proverb "true love is blind" is based on the popular quote of William Shakespeare "Love is blind". Love is blind represent the first phase in "the Love process" when people fall in love and they see the one they love like they want to see them.

People have different opinions about these two proverbs but I tend to say "true love is not blind". Love needs to grow and the clich "love is blind" represent the phase of meeting each other. They are physically attracted to each other and don't see mistakes of each other.

After some time the love process changes and love is not anymore like it started. True love is blind is a totally different statement; you don't see the one you love anymore like you want to see him or her. "True love is blind" will also open your eyes. The one you love is not perfect; everyone has their flaws and every relationship has his up and downs.

There are different opinions about "true love is blind" and I tend to say "no". True love means you accept the one you love like he/she is; you are not blind anymore for possible failings; nobody is perfect. This phase can be considered as the second one in the love process, the testing phase. The physical attraction changes and character is more important. The level of tolerance and maybe also the feeling of endless love can change. This doesn't mean you don't love each other anymore; it is just different. Everyone will discover the good and bad qualities of his/ her lover. Love is no paradise and up and downs passes through the relationship process.

Love is a choice, we tend to believe that we are born for each other but true love is really hard working and a world of acceptance, tolerance, respect and showing love. There are many decisions in your life which have an influence on "the love" aspect. The decision of having children together, making career in your life, time for a family life, unexpected things which happen in your life and how to deal with it; the death of your parents are important aspects in life which can change your opinion about the one you supposed to be the perfect lover.

Love is blind is often associated with people who don't deserve your love and can often be compared with love at first sight. The first phase of your love looks wonderful and creates passion, physical attractions but the next phase is critique. You discover "the real person" behind these feeling and can be totally different. It is possible you will find out a totally different person with a behavior which can't be tolerated in a relationship. As long you overlooks this behavior, the statement "love is blind" is true. Once you see the reality if he/she deserves your love; you can speak of true love and in my opinion "true love" is not blind.

True love is seeing your love in realistic terms and knowing that the one you love is the one you want always in your life to be happy.
