Fuel Economy

Improving the fuel economy of your car

Well first of all, i have first hand experience with this, and i know that to get the best gas mileage out of your car, there are some things you can do:

1) You should make sure your tires are inflated to the psi, for your particular brand of tires. Do not over fill them. It is easy to do yourself. I would suggest investing in an air compresser. The are usefull for more than just airing things up.

2) It is suggested that you fill up your tank in the moring when it is not in the heat of the day. This is suggested mearly because, the basic laws of chemestry apply. When it is cooler (such as in the moring) the gas particles are not moving as fast as say in the heat of the day. When the particles move faster, you wont get as much gas in your tank. So by filling up in the moring, you can get a slightly bit more gas, and with the rising gas prices today, that is a very good thing.

3) It looks good when a car is clean, and runs well, you should always make sure your car in well maintained. I replace the sparkplugs every half a year or so, just to make sure my car is running at its peak performance.

4) It is also said that the second half of your tank will get the best gas mileage, and the laws of physics will explain this one. When the tank is completely full, there is no room for the vapors of the gasoline. The car runs on the vapors, not the fluid, so when you have a half a tank or less, you have more room for the vapor in your gas tank. Also when the tank is completely full, the top half of gas is pushing down on the bottom half, so you will go through gas a bit faster on the top half than on the bottom

5) Another way to not use as much gas is to combine trips. Dont go to the store come home, go rent a movie come home, pick up the drycleaning come home. Pick up the drycleaning, then the movie, then get the groceries, so you only have to make one trip and not three. That way you save gas, and do not have to refuel as often.

Gas prices are outrageous, but if you find that you are not able to handel putting 70-130 dollars in your vehicle, you may want to consider selling, then investing in a more gas and your bank account friendly car. There are many other ways that you can improve your cars performance, and gas mileage. IF you just google how to get better gas mileage, i am sure you are bound to find something
I hope this helps you deal with these outragous gas prices. Because I am getting better gas mileage that the people who do not do this.
