My sister and I just saw the film, "Sex and the City. We are both ardent fans of the tv show. We were not disappointed with the movie. Not in the least! It was hilarious! We were both laughing so hard at times that we forgot we were in a movie theater. In truth, the movie was an excellent continuation of the television show.
And for my part, that was exactly what I wanted to see. The characters were exactly the same; they didn't even look any older, except maybe Carrie, during the period after Big jilted her. But what do you expect during a time like that? Sarah Jessica Parker was fantastic in her role. But then, I thought all the women were fantastic.
Anyone who has ever watched the television program knows that the underlying theme of the whole show is the friendship of the girls. They live their own lives, yet they are always there for each other. The girls all have individual personalities, yet they don't condemn or criticize each other, well, not too much anyway. This movie simply continued that theme. And that's what "Sex and the City" is all about.
We're all a little jealous of Samantha and her blatant approach to sex. She loves it, pure and simple. We all wish we had a little of the sexual appetite that she has. We pretend to be scandalized by her behavior, yet secretly we are envious. And Charolette, she's so sweet and innocent, but inside she's insecure and frightened. Miranda, well, Miranda is the bitchy one. I never really could figure out what Miranda really wants out of life. The others, yeah, they all are looking for love. Carrie, with her love of shoes, and Samantha with her love of well, love, are still searching for the one real one. Charolette has found it, yet is scared of losing it. But Miranda, she doesn't seem to care one way or the other. Yet, their search or journey is what has kept us captivated throughout the years of watching "Sex and the City. And don't forget, we still have one of the girls who is still single. I wouldn't mind watching another movie leading up to her greatest, hum, escapade. Bring it on, "Sex and the City" is still about four American women searching for love.
For anyone going to see the movie who has never watched the television program, then they may not understand the friendship of the four women. Some of the scenes may have been over their heads, but truthfully, if you wanted to see the movie, more than likely you are already a fan of the women. As for the males, well, who would not want to see a movie with four beautiful women? No man I ever met.
