Flower Stand Tycoon - 3/5 rating

In a market already flooded with business-building "tycoon" type games, at first thought Flower Stand Tycoon is not worth paying much attention to if you are looking for something new and exciting to add to your video game repertoire. However, if you love the challenge of trying to build a new business against lots of competitors in a cartoon world where the customers are a bit predictable, then this game is for you.

You are a male or female entrepreneur. You run the business, selling flowers, while you fund a researcher to develop new and innovative new flower breeds. You work out of a main warehouse base, and each day you must choose a neighborhood in which to sell your flowers. Each neighborhood has stats, such as population, the type of flowers they prefer and what your market share is in that area. These stats are not so important in the beginning of the game, but as time goes on and as your competition grows, these stats are an important part of growing your own business.

The graphics are average in the computer game world - no bells and whistles. However, they are fun and cartoony making the game-play, at the very least, entertaining. Sadly, you have very few options to choose as your avatar, just a few average American-looking men and the typical blonde, brunette or Asian women.

Sound, on the other hand, is slightly annoying. While you are viewing reports and other important items at the end of a sales day, there are water-droplet sounds going on the background that can make the player think something is going on they should be paying attention to. The music is the typical low-end video game composition. Nothing exciting, but a game like this does not demand an entire score.

Gameplay can get a bit repetitive, but if you have that competitive spirit in you the repetition can be overlooked. There are options to skip actually watching all the boring interactions of the day. Simply click the button and the day ends. You can view how you did against your competitors, but sometimes it is just fun to watch all the little people lining up at your stand to purchase your flowers and other merchandise.

All in all, the game is nowhere near innovative or cutting-edge but it can provide a few hours of entertainment to even the slightest tycoon fan.
