Poetry: Death of a loved one

Gone But Not Forgotten

It's only been a short time since you've been gone,
but in my heart, I still feel all alone.

I know that in my heart is where you are,
but right now, you seem so far.

I guess it will take time to learn to treasure the memories,
Like our many summer walks in the gentle breeze.

I realize now, that memories are all I have left,
It goes without saying, you certainly were the best.

Although I'll miss your tender smile and your warm embrace,
I can still thank God for his wonderful grace.

My life with you was blessed with love and serenity,
and He has given unto you a life of eternity.

No matter how much I miss you and wish you were here,
I don't have to live with anger and fear.

Because behind all the sadness and pain,
I know Jesus did not die in vain.

He has given us a promise that if we believe in him,
He will give us new life and take away our sins.

You have filled my life with love and peace,
and my thinking of you will never cease.

Even though, right now I'm feeling sad and blue,
I hold on to the promise, that someday I will see you.
