Poetry: Longing

Overture to My Muse

From shadows, dark,
too soon evolved
You into light
too bright to see
What renewed love
you brought to me.

Your sharp eyes pierced
My weakened shell
Left hot blood flowing
Frozen in their path
to hardened heart
Made soft by your gentility.

Two random travelers,
Traversing disparate paths
Find this conjunctive place
a rainbow arc, Aurora's flame
that burned my tongue
to speak your name.

You have become my rose's thorn
Upon this bed, warmly worn.
This garden grown with wild weed,
You, center of sweet Cupid's seed
Behold, we lie in lovers' dreams
In lovers' fantasies this night
Where mist encompasses the streams
Of consciousness they feel
Entwined as one the dark with light.

They meld as one without restraint
From moment, first
To moment, last,
That moment, now
Committed each one face to face
Devoted for eternity
This dream of mine
For you and me.
