Released in June of 2007 The Apple iphone was the talk of probably the world from its announcement in January of the same year. However, at the time its release was only in the US. A phone made for the techie with lots of widgets and other features that seem simply revolutionary.

The phone has a very sleek and fashionable design which some even consider as revolutionary and a lightweight frame which is only about 135 grams. The design is sure to attract the phone hunters that are very particular about design as well as the tech junkies that simply must have the latest and tech greatest products.

The iphone firstly is a quad band phone meaning that it is not restricted to the borders of the USA. It also supports some key features such as and Bluetooth, EDGE for faster Bluetooth support, WI-FI as well as GPRS for internet connectivity. A USB port allows for easy file transfer meaning that you can send your itunes library to the phone. Also integrated is a vibrator which activates when calls or message alerts are received or your alarm goes off.

Shipped out with a 2MP camera it surprising packs quite a punch, said by some to be providing better quality than a 5MP. Other features include Mac OS v10.4.8 which provides a great user interface. Oh! Almost forgetting the magnificent touchscreen which works great and the accelerometer feature for auto-rotate and the proximity for auto-turn off. SMS messaging and emailing make this device great for the texters.

The standard colour for this phone is black however there have been some releases of the phone in silver and other colours. Up to 250 hours in stand by and up to 8 hours call time.

On the downside however there have been reports of trouble in file transfer. The camera has no auto focus and there is no editor for Microsoft office files. The HTML browser is a Safari model meaning that it does not support flash and Java and there is also no 3G support.

Priced at around $499 this phone is available at most mobile phone retail outlets both by contract or contract free. Truly a satisfying deal which is sure to live up to some expectations however sure to disappoint. A highly recommended buy if you have been in dire search for a great phone

Despite this all there is speculation of Apple releasing a new iphone. Come Monday, Apple CEO is expected to introduce the new iphone at an apple conference. This new edition should fix most of the problems with the existing one.
