Who doesn't love a good time? Drinks, music, friends, family, parties, dancing, it's all good and all in fun. After one works all week at work, Fridays always look like the best opportunity to go out and have some fun. That is the inspiration behind the laid-back and fun-loving country singer Alan Jackson's new hit "Good Time." The song has a great beat that anyone can make up a dance to. It can also make even the grouchiest person grin as they join in.
In his new music video, Alan Jackson decides to set a record for the world's longest line dance, stretching from Tennessee to Kentucky in a toe-tapping, boot scootin' party of fun. Even passersby not recruited for this dance couldn't help but join in. The length was incredible and it just kept getting longer. Really, who could resist? It's a country club dance song that any person of any kind of social group can get into. There's a Good Time to be had by and for everyone.
Those who are fans of Alan Jackson's earlier works such as his rendition of Summertime Blues, his original works of Chattahoochee and Mercury won't be disappointed. This country star just keeps right on pumping out hits with his unfailing good cheer, devil-may-care grin and trademark white hat and sunglasses.
Even those who are not typically country fans are converted to this modernly classic music when they listen to Jackson's songs because his songs are far, far away from the stereotype the non-fans are accustomed to hearing about such as them having a tendency to be downing and pessimistic. They believe that all country music is about losing a wife, losing the dog, losing the job and losing the home. But Jackson thinks nothing of the sort with his catchy tunes.
"Heel toe dosey doe
Scootin' our boots, swingin' doors
B & D Kix and Dunn
Honkin' tonk heaven, Double shotgun
Good time,
Lord, we're havin' a good time "
Even that part here, where one may not know the tune, invokes a toe-tapping rhythm that just cannot be denied. This author could not resist watching the video over and over nor could she resist calling it in on the radio. It is honestly one of the most fun songs I've ever heard in a long time.
Trust me, next time you're in the car or anywhere near a radio, tune in to your local country station and listen in. When it comes on, I guarantee that you will be tempted to turn it up, roll down the windows, let your hair down and just belt out the tune. It's just that good. After all, who can resist a Good Time?
