I think Mighty Mouse brainwashed my son Matt. As little as Mighty Mouse was, he somehow convinced Matt to save his life despite our efforts to get rid of him. Let me explain. One night, Mighty Mouse made his appearance as I was walking in the kitchen, minding my own business. There was a sudden movement from the counter onto the floor. It was Mighty Mouse. He ran fast and slid around the corner; his feet frantically trying to get some traction on the tiled floor like they do in the cartoons. I screamed several times, "Ah! Ah! Ah!" unable to move. Mighty Mouse ran one way and I the other.
That night my husband Glenn set out traps, and sure enough Mighty Mouse set one off. Matt went to check it out and came back quite surprised. The mouse was just lying there, not caught in the trap, but not moving either. We weren't sure what to do next. Was he dead? Was he pretending? Maybe he was just passed out or paralyzed? What if he was mad that we tried to catch him and was now planning his revenge?
Glenn decided to shove him into a cardboard box and set him outside. Matt checked on him the next day. He was still alive but not moving. He checked on him the following day and nothing had changed. It was starting to get really hot outside, and Matt decided the mouse that we had tried to trap a few nights ago needed some nourishment, so he went and put some bread and water in the box for Mighty Mouse.
The box was gone when I got home on the third day. Matt told me not to worry about it; that he took care of it'. Later that night, about two in the morning, I was letting our dog out. I heard a strange noise and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Finally, there it was; the source of the sound. It was THE BOX and it was in my living room under a table! Mighty Mouse was up and moving around! This was how Matt took care of it'?! I don't think so!
Mighty Mouse had sprung back to life thanks to Matt giving him upgraded accommodations. Matt and Glenn took the box to the park the next night and freed Mighty Mouse. I think that every time Matt checked on Mighty Mouse, he was hypnotized by him; beady eyeball to spectacled eyeball. "You will feed me and water me! You will bring me inside your air-conditioned home! You will revive me and then you will free me into the wild!" That's why I don't like mice; they're manipulative. They know a softy when they see one. He just better not show his face around here again!
