Father's Day Gifts from Toddlers
I have pictures of times I spent with dad on Father's Day and pictures where he is showing the gift that I bought him, or made him. The gifts I made he still has and I am thirty-seven years old. Dad has them tucked away in an old trunk and every year for Father's Day he decorates with them on Father's Day. From the noodle necklace I made him to the painting I did for him with finger paint I did for him when I was two, or three years old. He has the painting framed with my little circle designs I did and my hand prints on it. He sets it on the mantle above the fire place every year at Father's Day along with decorating with the other little things I made for him through the years on that special day for him. On the table he sets a bowl I made him when I was in 8th grade that he puts candy in. I made it out of paper and it still is holding up after all these years. Discolored a bit but still holding up.
Dads that are kind and caring are the ones we all treasure so much in the world. We wouldn't know what to do without our beloved fellow men that helped guide us through life in one form or another. I recall being taught things that built strength and courage from the men that became father's and of my own father as well. Valuable lessons and guidance they give with their interacting and helping hand.
My mom started me making stuff at one year old making my father fun things for Father's Day. She told me I picked him flowers all by myself for him on Father's Day one year when he had a broken arm. He didn't put them in water; instead he pressed them in his bible in Luke. Yes they are still there after all these years.
When a child brings you something out of pure love it is hard not to cherish it. For they are so pure and innocent and their gifts speak of truth, love, and of their best work. They are little pleasers wanting to please us so much with their kind little deeds that can last for a life time of fond memories and the loved gifts are ones you just can't bring yourself to throw away. Like that pretty finger painting picture on the fridge that's been there for weeks or that drawing your child drew for you and you happen to catch yourself looking at it more often.
