Myrtle Beach is well-known for being a golfer's paradise. But, what happens to the rest of the family while the golfer is enjoying the links? Not everyone enjoys the back nine, even if it is in a place as laid-back as Myrtle Beach. So, send your loved one off for a round of golf, and head out on your own for some fun.
BAREFOOT LANDING
Located in North Myrtle Beach right off of Highway 17, Barefoot Landing provides hours of fun in a variety of ways. Start out shopping at over 100 specialty shops along the boardwalk, then stop for lunch at one of the fabulous restaurants. If you are looking for a bit of raunchy fun with your food, do check out Dick's Last Resort. After lunch, visit any of the ten attractions along the boardwalk. You can even get tickets for the Alabama Theatre to check out a live performance that night. You can most certainly spend your entire day at Barefoot Landing.
THE DIXIE STAMPEDE
Yeehaw! Head on over to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede for a dinner show that you will never forget. While eating a four course meal, you will watch all sorts of antics on horseback by experienced cowboys and cowgirls. Make sure you've got a group of fun-loving people to go with you!
THE PAVILION
Did you ever see the World's Wildest Videos episode where the ferris wheel went out of control and people were hanging off of it? Well, the Pavilion is where it happened. The ride has since been fixed, but the memory has scarred many people (including myself, who was there in person when it happened) from ever riding a ferris wheel again.
THE BEACH
You can't go to Myrtle Beach without actually going to the beach. Most are free, so pack a lunch and a blanket and head down for some fun. All of the beaches are within walking distance to shops and restaurants, so bring some cash, too.
MINI-GOLF
As previously mentioned, Myrtle Beach is a golfer's paradise. Perhaps you don't like the "real" green, but that is no reason not to have fun golfing. Mini-golfing, that is. There are more mini-golf places in the Myrtle Beach area than anywhere else in the United States. Take advantage of this and have some fun!
Overall, you can have fun in Myrtle Beach without having aspirations of joining the PGA Tour. A short weekend trip is perfect to see the sights and enjoy yourself without becoming overwhelmed.
