One who defends Christianity is a soldier in God's army. This Christian battles on several levels of spiritual warfare.
God simplifies His face to this Christian. He makes His plan comprehensible for this Christian. This transaction cashes in on knowledge. This knowledge defeats the enemy with endless tactics.
One particular tactic is recruitment. When non-believers "catch" the Holy Spirit, a soldier has invited it. The love of Christ overwhelms the non-believer. These "mercenaries" in turn begin to hate the enemy and all the evil it supports.
Another tactic is worship. Worship earns worthiness from God. It returns favor and blessing. After a healing Sunday worship, the believer and non-believer alike experience a peaceful euphoria. Optimism fills the heart for all under the voice of God. With this morale, the soldier approaches battle prideful. The soldier fears nothing but God.
The battles of spiritual warfare often occur in intelligent conversation. Debates of religion are always sensitive ground. However in today's society, the internet has allowed these battles to occur more often. Those who defend Christianity aren't always victorious in battle. In 2008, atheists are many times more knowledgeable of God's word than the believer. Debates sometimes result in the believer losing his cool and misrepresenting God.
There are those who do in fact properly represent the True Vine. These are the generals. These men and women are knowledgeable in the Word of God. No debate will ever cause this Christian to be confused by the tricks of the enemy. This Christian will never question God. This Christian will inspire non-believers with his wisdom.
The enemy attacks the weak. It tempts those who are freshly devoted to Christ. These Christians are especially tender. The enemy wishes to enslave these people. The veteran soldier plays a role of mentor to these Christians. The soldier must protect the minds of these God's most prideful group. The soldier must invite this Christian to church. He must pray for and with this Christian. He must study with this Christian. Eventually the Holy Spirit relieves the soldier from duty. The soldier then devotes himself to training another recruit.
Defending Christianity is never simple. It often is not gratifying. However, a soldier must defend truth. A soldier figures it unfair to possess the knowledge of Christ and not share it. The enemy is a lion who preys on humanity. The enemy knows that God's most prized possession is man. He attacks man in an attempt to hurt God. The soldier stands for God. The enemy enslaves his army. His soldiers do not even realize that they are participating in a war. God's soldiers will defend Christianity at any cost. Christ's suffered for every man, woman, and child who would come after Him. His legacy is truth. The depth of His love is what inspires the soldier to defend His name.
