Drug-Dealers

The sad truth is, drug-dealers are now advertising on TV!

It seems more and more these days, when I turn on the "Idiot-Box," I see yet another drug being advertised. Oh, they have cute butterflies and flowers, angels and sleepy moons, life-like virtual actors, and a host of other familiar and soothing icons for our consumption. But, they deceive millions with false claims, and direct the same to "ask your doctor if this is right for you." The deception runs deep (any search engine will confirm this).

There is a subtle change I have noticed recently in the terminology they are using, that should raise the hair on the back of your neck. Now, they are using the tag line, "Ask your PRESCRIBER if this is right for you." Doctors are no longer considered "doctors" by the pharmaceutical companies. Since they rely so heavily on income from "prescribing drugs," they have, in a sense become "pushers." And we all know that pushers work for dealers.

I worry about today's young people, and what they see on TV. It seems that everything they see, they want. The pharmaceutical companies would love to get every teenager hooked on drugs; it's big business these days. When I was young, I used to get frustrated with the number of times I saw ads for Tide laundry soap! Now, I long for those days again. Most teens don't even flinch when it comes to commercials. They even have favorites! I don't watch TV as much anymore but, when I do, I incorporate the use of a special device that helps me keep my sanity; it's known as the "Mute Button." I'm not interested in a new cell phone that appears to grow out of a flower, or the car with 450 horsepower, or the drug that can kill me (in rare cases).

It seems the whole world is hooked on drugs. Oh, they will tell you that these are legal drugs, or prescribed medicines but, in the end, they are still drugs. And, since people feel they need them to survive, they are hooked. It's strange to me, how people can totally ignore all the warnings, articles, and news coverage about the risks involved with taking prescription medicines. How can they even call them medicines? Medicines cure, drugs mask. The side affects alone should prove to be a strong enough deterrent. But, in this day and age, people are more concerned with the results than the risks. That's why the number of deaths caused by prescription drugs has steadily increased since their inception.

A lot of people ask me, "If prescription drugs are so bad, what should I be taking?" It's very simple: eat good, walk or swim, and take the proven supplements. The problem with the healthy lifestyle is, most don't want to give up pleasure. Sweets and comfort foods abound in our society. The more of these foods you eat, the more you'll want. Transversely, the more good foods you eat, the less bad food you'll want. It is a gradual change that will prove to be very profitable in the long run; profitable for you, not the drug-dealers!
