One hot summer day when I was about eighteen I was working at a garden center. We found some slugs in the petunias and I was in charge of getting rid of them. My boss told me the best way was to stick them in rubbing alcohol.I decided to take an old water bottle and put the alcohol in that and then just drop the slugs in there. I stayed out there for well over an hour just collecting these bugs. Deciding I needed a break so I went inside. The counter in the work room had a shelf that ran along the top and that is where I put the bottle of slugs in alcohol. I went about doing some inside stuff just to be out of the sun for a bit then grabbed my water that was also on the shelf. O.K. I am sure you have figured out what happened. I grabbed the wrong water bottle and took a nice, big gulp of slugs. Let me just tell you it doesn't taste very well at all. I ran to the bathroom thinking I was going to be sick telling my boss as I ran. She called poison control and the humiliating conversation went like this:
"I have a girl here that just drank some rubbing alcohol with slugs in it. What should we do?"
"Well how old is she?"
"She is 18."
"Months or years?"
"Years."
How embarrassing! So if you ever find yourself in this situation you just eat a sandwich and drink some juice but I really don't recommend it. My now husband who was at the time my boyfriend still won't let me live this one down.
