Idiocracy and My Last Will and Testament.

"You could grow up to be president" turned into a threat for most children as we weathered the age of Nixon. Following presidents created even further examples of how politics shaped our view of what our morals should be. Gerald Ford was the bumbling clown. Ronald Reagan couldn't differentiate his movie scripts from reality and Bill Clinton had his finger on the button, but not the one that launched nuclear attacks. Clinton did, however, break in a new trend among Americans. He lied, then he lied again and then admitted to his lie; and we ignored it as if nothing was ever said. Certainly his wife should have slapped him across the face and walked out on him. It was not the stuff of normalcy and most disturbing of all, it showed that America had become numb, or perhaps indifferent to strange politics. We shook our heads and clicked our remotes to see what was on the other channels. The 1968 Chicago convention it was not.

The current democratic race has brought even more fine examples for us to fear when it comes to teaching our children right from wrong. A promise is as worthless as the contract by which it isn't enforced. I'm not sure that sentence makes sense. Well, as much sense as the rules and re-rules of the DNC.

Senator Clinton has proved that not only can you go back on an agreement once it fails to suit your needs any more, but if you complain enough; it is as if there was no agreement in the beginning. Again, we all clicked the remote. The DNC, creating the rules and then changing them when their spoiled children kicked and screamed, has provided our children with yet another example of how honesty, integrity and accepting consequences for one's own actions is no longer part of our society. I can see it now; my children demanding their allowance even though they did not finish their chores as promised. I expect they will take note of a law office number they see on television and I will be dealing with legal threats, much along the line as the rhetoric of the Clinton crew of shameless enforcers has done with the DNC.

It's bad enough I'm ashamed to be an American under these so-called rules of our present idiocracy. That after years of the Bush administration ignoring subpoenas and congressional investigations and mispronouncing the simplest of words in the entire English language, we sit silent and hope our cable TV carries more channels and our SUVs will at least pump out ten miles to the gallon. Now, I'm ashamed
