Fun moments with children

Have you ever been stuck trying to come up with a great idea for your child's birthday party? Maybe something that isn't too expensive but is "way cool"? Well here is an idea that is good for children of most ages and gender isn't an issue either.

The theme: Hollywood!.

For activities you simply set up a couple of stations. One would be the Hollywood sidewalk. Lay out a long piece of paper (the rolls of paper you can get pretty cheap just about anywhere) then let them dip their hands and feet into finger paint and put it on the paper with their name in the middle like the movie stars do in the pavement on Hollywood Blvd.. After the party and a good picture you can cut it up and the kids can each take home their square. Two would be putting on a play. You can get script ideas from the library or let the kids make up one of their own. To keep the price down just get some of your old clothes together and let them use those for costumes. Make sure they have a nice place to put on the play even if it is just a little piece of the living room. Set up chairs in front of your "stage" and let them put the play on for the adults. Three would be a photo shoot. If you have a camera this will be easy. Just let the kids pose for the camera and have a photo shoot just like the movie stars. After the party you could also take the pictures and make a "magazine" as a momentum for the party. Kids will just love this star treatment.

For party decorations you can cut out stars from construction paper or even go big and cut them out from cardboard then wrap them in aluminum foil. Hang these around or tape to posts if the party is outside. For the tables sprinkle star confetti and get those little sunglasses that come in the big packs in the party section of most stores. Make sure you have a pair of sunglasses for each kid that is attending.

What is a party without food? Ideas for eating are easy. Just take meat and veggies and put on kabobs. Kids will think this is really fancy and it's really not hard to do. Another thing is hor dourves. Just put cheese on crackers for this. If you don't like the kabob idea you can also do a fondue party. Try to make a star shaped cake. To make the drinks seem fancy too you can get plastic cups in the shape of wine goblets then create a drink using juices and naming it for your kid. Adding fruit to the drink can really spruce it up, too. The key to the food is to be creative and just make it look fancy and special even if it is just hot dogs and potatoes.

Making your kid's birthday party dreams come true can be easy and simple. Good luck to you and yours and may every party be spectacular! Don't forget to let your child know they are a star everyday not just at their Hollywood party.
