Poetry: Watching

by Melissa Bagley

Created on: June 02, 2008

Your eyes,
My eyes,
Across a crowded room.
We catch each other looking...
Look away really fast!
No one saw,
Maybe he won't think I was interested.

Today I saw you,
In the elevator at the Mall.
I followed you with that hunger,
That goes with seeing you every-time.
You didn't know,
Didn't see me,
It is better that way.

You are beyond my reach,
Beyond my touch,
Out of my range and what will be.
But I can wish for what was,
What I miss and what I wanted;
I will never stop;
Desiring what was not meant to be.

Do you know?
Do you suspect?
Do you laugh at me behind closed doors?
Does she know what we used to be to each other?
Her hand in your hand,
Your arm around her protectively.
Keep going, I am always watching.
