Roller skating can be a fun activity for all ages. Heading to the rink for a party can be an exciting affair. Here are some tips for organizing a party at a roller rink.
1. Choose a rink
If you are lucky to live in an area with several rinks call them up and ask about their party packages. Visit the rinks to see their facilities and party areas. Ask about weekday specials which can save up to $5 a person. Make sure you check out the restrooms. You want to be sure they are clean. Check to see if the staff are helpful and friendly. Look at the menu to see what is available.
2. Choose a party package
Pick a party package that works for you and your budget. Decide whether you will also pay for parents who may want to skate. Many packages will include cake that the rink provides, often with no extra charge. Go ahead and take advantage of that. As long as it has frosting kids will probably like it. Party rooms are nice, but often cost significantly more and are not in use for the whole party. See how long you would have the party room if you choose one.
3. See what the rink provides
Be sure to find out what the rink will provide for your party. Find out if the rink provides utensils, plates, cups and napkins. Ask if they do any face painting or hair coloring. Can the rink also provide goodie bags? Take all this into consideration when choosing a package or a rink. The more they provide the less headache you will have. Party packages may have invitations you can send out saving yourself money.
4. Check for free skating lessons before the party begins
Some rinks offer a free skating lesson for first time skaters. See when this is available and if it is the hour before your party begins. If so, list this information on the party invitations. Wary skaters can take advantage before they skate in the party session.
5. Discounts
Be sure to ask for any discounts that are available. Check your local newspaper or entertainment guide for any coupons. See if any guests are members of an artistic skate club, speed team or hockey team associated with the rink, they often get in free and you will not be charged for their skating time.
6. Safety
Run some rules by the party guests that will keep them safe on the skate floor. Remind them not to skate too fast. Ask if the rink will provide a quick safety lesson before the party hits the floor. If the children are young, you may request that their parents stay to help watch.
7. Have fun
Enjoy your special occasion and have fun!
