Poetry: Assertiveness

by Ken Scholl

Created on: June 02, 2008

Storm the streets, release the hounds
Bring to attention, what our hearts resound
Give them a show, ring loud the bell
We'll give 'em a riot, not from heaven but, well

Show no mercy, for it shan't be shown to you
Pick up your gun, in fact make that two
Toss it my way, let's make our march seen
We'll tear down the tyranny, right at the seam

Yeah, we'll give 'em a riot, show what we've got
We'll make the display, loftier than not
Can't fold to the system, gotta revoke their sin
Over and over, it's something you and I can win

One man down, maybe two or even three
It's a war of attrition, not made for you or even me
We're just a part, a small cell of the strain
But our voice is important, our unity can't wane

Apply this as you must, to your life or a bill
Assert yourself, don't allow another to will
Your life is your own, not one to control
Have it your way, for it is your soul
