When you hear Orlando, Florida the first three words that come to mind should be, DISNEY, DISNEY, DISNEY! Bottom line is you are never too old to experience the nostalgia of the Disney theme parks. Whether you are on your honeymoon or taking the kids on their first vacation, there is something for everyone hiding behind Mickey's perky black ears...
Day 1- Purchase Park Hopper passes! The passes come in two and five day options. With these tickets, you are allowed admission to any of the 4 theme parks, all within one day if you choose. If you can fit them all in that is. Choose from, Magic Kingdom, MGM, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. The adult ticket price is about two hundred dollars for a two-day experience, but is totally worth it.
Alright, so you bought your tickets. Now the first place to go on the Tour-De-Disney is Magic Kingdom. The commercials are not kidding when they say "a place where dreams come true." Here you can meet your favorite fairytale princess and ride Splash Mountain with Brer Rabbit until you throw up! Well...hopefully not. The best rides this park has to offer are Pirates of the Caribbean; all inclusive with Jack Sparrow and company, Snow White's ride through the forest and Peter Pan's adventure through the sky. The best of your favorite movies become exciting rides, with bold color, and memorable songs, most of which you will find you still know the lyrics to. Magic Kingdom is a classic place where you will definitely want to spend an entire day. Just don't forget your "I'm with Grumpy" t-shirt on the way out!
Next stop: MGM studios, where the movies come to life! An immense change from the colorful dreamland of the Kingdom, MGM takes movies into the reality. Ride the Tower of Terror really feels as though you are plummeting into the Twilight Zone. And hardly ever a wait! However if you do experience a little back up in the queue you can snag a Fast-Pass ticket and return to the ride at a specified time to get VIP access. No line no wait! This holds true for most of the rides across Disney. If you love roller coasters you have to catch the Rock N Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. This coaster is indoors and illuminated under black lights for an unforgettable experience. Walk this way and hop on the silver-streaming-stretch limo and speed to the red carpet just in time for their show. Zero to sixty in three seconds!
Day 3 - If you're tired of the theme park scene, (or have used up all your passes) try Downtown Disney. Day or night this is a great community packed with shops with Disney merchandise galore and great places to eat. My favorite being Joe's Crab Shack located on a docked steamship in the center downtown. Great food - a little pricey but the quality is worth it, especially if you are a fan of buttery king crab legs.
The magic awaits. So what are YOU waiting for?
