thoughts, fantasies, and dreams. Many women watched "The Bachelor" all the while pretending that they were one of the contestants competing for Alex's attention. "What would I do if I were in that situation?" "I would never have answered the question that way." "That 'Bachelorette' looks terrible tonight." Men are much less apt to live vicariously through 25 bachelors on the prowl.
A very important question must also be answered. How would "The Bachelorette" be expected to end? Do we see her getting down on bended knee and proposing marriage? Do we see her asking him to move in with her? Does she buy a ring and show it to him, only to withdraw it and say she's saving it for that moment when they decide to spend the rest of their lives together? And how many men do you know that would commit to anything beyond more dating after going through this entire experience? I don't know about you, but any of these scenarios makes me shudder even under the best of circumstances.
I may be a bit old-fashioned here, so I'll admit that up front. I just wonder how many other people feel the same way I do. I'm as good an actor as the next guy, but when it comes to getting married, that is serious business for me. I've never been married and I won't do it until I meet the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. The likelihood of that happening on a television show draws lottery odds at best.
