Witchcraft and inner self

Wise oracles from ancient times to modern day self-help gurus all give the same advice "Know thyself." When you honestly know all about yourself (your strengths, your weaknesses, your values, your sense of humor) and accept yourself, you can set the stage for some mighty impressive accomplishments. Witchcraft can help you "know thyself".

What Is Witchcraft?

Witchcraft is not a religion, much as the same is yoga is not a religion. But both of them can be incorporated into any spiritual belief. Think Christians don't perform witchcraft? Think again. Prayer is nothing but a magic spell. Blowing out birthday candles on your cake is yet another spell. We do spells and rituals all the time without there having to be a religious attachment to it.

Witchcraft is a term word for making magic. You don't have to be a Witch or Wiccan in order to perform Witchcraft. If you don't like the word Witchcraft, then feel free to substitute another word that you are more comfortable with. Finding a word you are more comfortable with is one exercise to help get to know yourself better. You might want to use the words "performing ritual" or "wish craft" in the place of "Witchcraft".

There isn't an iron-clad definition of Witchcraft or how to perform it. You don't need to follow any complicated spells from a book. If you want, you can just do whatever inspires you. Creating a spell or making magic is another way to discover your inner sense of strength, creativity and resourcefulness.

Keeping A Journal

One way to help Witchcraft help to get to know yourself better is to keep a written record of some kind about your magical experiments. You might just want to chronicle your emotions before during and after the spell. You might also want to make a list of what you'd like to specifically learn about yourself. Writing it down in the physical world seems to wake up your subconscious to get to work on the problem.

The great thing about keeping a diary or journal is that years later you can go back and read it and se how far you've come in your personal journey. The journals become an invaluable cheerleading squad for your life.

Another benefit to journaling about your Witchcraft experiences, is that you can learn more about WHY you believe the way you do. A journal about Witchcraft is the safest place to ask any kind of question you want. And it's the place where eventually you will find the answers.

In Witchcraft as well as in life, you can't rely on someone else's experiences and beliefs. You actually have to get out there and discover things for yourself. In this way, you will not only learn about Witchcraft, but also about how your inner self works.
